Special Education for Professional Ethical Principles

They are committed to upholding and advancing the following principles:

The 12 Special Education Professional Ethical Principles reflect a commitment from special educators to provide the best of themselves to ensure students with disabilities are included, challenged, protected, and respected. These principles are an important reminder to special educators about the great responsibility they have in their roles teaching special needs students; a responsibility that extends beyond the classroom. To be an effective special educator, per these principles, one must help ensure students receive the best possible education by continually working to improve themselves professionally, engaging with families of special needs students and colleagues, and advocating for special needs students.

Special needs educators cannot take their jobs lightly, and these principles show that those who do take on the important role of educating students with disabilities are making a commitment to do what is in the best interest of those children to ensure they receive the support they need to meet their educational goals.
